Question:
How soon after surgery are you able to get pregnant???

I am only 4 1/2 months post-op and am not looking to get pregnant but accidents do happen. How soon after surgery could (not should) you get pregnant?    — dl_roark (posted on June 30, 2003)

Should is a year or more, and only after reaching your goal weight and maintaining it for a time. My doctor says 18 months. COULD is right away as the previous poster said, be super careful and don't count on the pill to keep you safe. If you are over 190 the patch won't work either.

You can get pregnant about 8 seconds after surgery. Once you start losing weight you become VERY fertile VERY fast. We suggest to our patients to use the Nuvo Ring which is once a month birth control that is very effective for surgical weight loss patients. Be careful, ok? Best wishes!
