Question:
What is DS surgury?
I keep hearing people talk about it and saying it is better, but I don't know what it is. — judyc7 (posted on June 14, 2003)

swith and the library here at obesity help has lots of info on it. They
also have their own message board forum on here. Good luck.

The DS is also known as the BPD/DS. Our official website is
www.duodenalswitch.com, and it explains the surgery better than I ever
could! We also have a group on Yahoo. I had a DS in Oct. 2001 with Dr. Pomp
at Mt. Sinai Hospital in NYC. I was 304 lbs, now I'm 138 lbs. I can eat
virtually anything, as do most DS'ers. DS patients don't dump as we still
have our pylorus. Some of us do have problems with diarrhea and gas during
the first 6 months post op, but this diminishes with time and is
controllable with meds. I wouldn't give up my DS for the world! It's the
smartest thing I've ever done.
