Question:
I am 6 weeks post-op and have lost
I am 6 weeks post-op and have lost 38 pounds. I started at 298 and am 5'6". Does this sound on-target to you? It seems that I have not been losing much for the last week to 2 weeks. What could I be doing wrong? I eat protein first, get all of my water in. — Laurie C. (posted on May 4, 2003)

It sounds like your doing okay to me. Preop I wasnt too far weightwise
from you (5'4 and 294 lbs). At my 6 week visit I had lost 38 lbs and my
surgeon said I was doing great, in fact they said that that's the weight
loss they would have expected at my 3 month visit. At around 4 or 5 weeks
postop I hit a plateau too, in fact I gained a few lbs, but it didnt last
long and then I started losing again, and you will too. Youre doing
great!

I'm 6 weeks out, too. Started at 341 5'10". Lost 22 in first 4
weeks. Walking alot now and "eating" more protein and it feel
like I'm losing alot more than initially. But, hey, you're still losing
more than me!! Good job!!

Laurie- you're doing perfect! Not that we should compare ourselves to
others- b/c it can just lead to frustration- but I know you're very early
post-op, so sometimes you just need to know if you're on track. And as for
not losing weight- you're simply on a plateau- get used to them! lol They
can happen once a month or every few months- it's our bodies way of
catching up. Goodluck to yoU!

Try updating your profile. I went there first to see if you are exercising
but no info as a post-op. Exercise helps immensely if you are not doing
any. It doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong. Don't get in the
habit of comparing your loss to anyone else. It doesn't work-there will
always be someone who starts at your same height and weight and loses
faster and those that lose slower. You will have weeks where you lose
nothing, lose alot or even gain, even tho your eating correctly.
