Question:
How do you how much is added sugar in cereals with fruit?
There are several new cereals with "real fruit" pieces like Special K with strawberries and Cheerios with berries. Of course the sugar content is high and sugar is listed at the 2nd or 3rd ingredient, but is there a way to know how much of the sugar is just natural from the fruit and how much is added? — Sarahlicious (posted on May 3, 2003)

Why don't you write the companies and ask them. I saw that someone wrote to
7-11 to ask about the crystal light slurpies. You may even be able to go to
their website and eamil them.

Don't ever think the source of the sugar will affect how you wear it on
yoru body. I gained about 8 lbs from fruit last summer. Fruit. Regular,
nekkid, non-tampered with fruit.

The general "rule" that my surgeons office gave me was that any
food that has a form of "refined" sugar as the first three
ingredients (without brackets) has too much sugar. There were some
exceptions with condiments etc but that is a whole other story.

I eat any kind of cereal I want and have had no problems and I eat alot of
the new cherrios w/ strawberries. I know the cereal seems high in
sugar(usually 10-13 grams), but when you see the sugar as the 3rd or so
ingrediant, it should be ok considering the small amount we eat. My
nutritionist said that is ok in moderation, but they all say something
different. Good luck!
