Question:
I was wondering if anyone knows if the insurance

company for Cooper Tire and Rubber Company will pay for Gastric bypass and did they give u a hard time and how long did it take to find out! I didn't find our insurance carrier on the website.    — Terri S. (posted on May 1, 2003)

Try and obtain a copy of your medical insurance certificate from your employer. If the insurance is through your husband's employer, than have him get a copy. It should not be that hard to do. Employers are obligated by law to provide this information. Usually it is given to the employee when they are first hired. In this document should contain the information you are looking for. First check the "exclusions" section to see if it is excluded. In my case, "surgical treatment for obesity" was excluded but NOT if you had a BMI of 35 or greater. So the "exclusion" is not always that. GET THAT DOCUMENT!!! Good luck to you!!!
