Question:
8 Days Post Op Problems with Nauesa & Dry Heaves

For the past two days I have had problems with Nauesa and Dry Heaves. Additionally, my stomach contracts and the drainage tube button will retract when my stomach cramps and pop out when it is not contracting. I am trying to follow the liquid diet but it is difficult.    — Jutta F. (posted on April 25, 2003)

I had nausea and dry heaves for a LONG time. It was hard to get anything down at all. If I mixed diet sprite and water that seemed to go down ok. My husband would shake the carbonation out of the sprite before mixing it. Also, call your surgeon there are several suppositories that will help with the nausea and make it easier to live. Good luck. **13 mths PO, -200lbs, crt wgt 120lbs**

Give your sergeon a call. He can prescribe pills or supositories for nausea. I dealt with nausea and dry heaves for weeks. I had to take the medication every six hours on the dot.

If you are on a liquid diet but not a clear liquid diet you could try (and this is purely for you to decide) nibbling on some saltine crackers. They mush completely in water so were acceptable under my doctors plan for liquids when nausea got the better of me. But please ask your doc first if that's ok!
