Question:
I have a cold 7 days before surgery!

I woke up on saturday with a head cold and my surgery is a week from today. Will they make me reschedule?    — debbie G. (posted on April 7, 2003)

I had the same thing happen to me, i called my nurse at the surgeons office and she said as long as i'm not too congested and dont have a fever then they would still do it. I would call the office to see if i were you. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

Call your PCP now! The same thing happened to me but I felt as though my cold was going into my chest. He put me on the Z-Pack, a very strong antibiotic. I did call my surgeon's office and they said as long as my chest was clear on the day of surgery I would be good to go.

Definitly call your PCP I too had a cold 5 days before my surgery and my doctor gave me zythromax it's similar to the Z-pack but I was already two days too late for it. Needless to say the day of surgery I had the little sniffles and I was over my cold. It's 10 weeks later and I down about 45 lbs. Good luck and God Bless A Fellow Big Girl For Life. Yolanda Artis :o)

I caught a cold abought 10 days before my surgery and took cold eaze and plenty of vitamin c. I was alright for surgery. Good luck. Paulette Gronskei

I did too. I thought for sure that my surgery would be postponed but I myself back to health. I went to my PCP immediately to get treatment and a lot of R&R. Eat chicken soup & drink OJ. Good luck.

I'll say it again....happened to me, too. Call your PCP and get a Z-Pak.

Keep your fingers crossed that like most colds it'll be gone in a week. I find lots of sleep and lots of fluids help me most.
