Question:
I am on the pureed stage and want to know
how much people could eat at this time. IS it normal to think that you could finish a 6oz container of sf.non-fat yogurt? Need some ideas of what I can eat now if I eat tuna salad can it be with regular mayo or should I just use low-fat instead, also is this the time when u can't drink wit your meals this is really hard because the foods make me thirsty, so I just still keep rinking broth.. I am in the pureed stage. I was told to only eat 2-3 ounces at a time, and
eat every 2-3 hours. When I eat yogurt I just eat 1/2 of a container at a
time. And yes, this is the stage where you aren't suppose to drink water
with your meals. Unfortunately, I do! I can't help it. I am 3 weeks out,
and I haven't had any trouble doing that, but some people might. When I
eat tuna, I mix it with low-fat Miracle Whip. I go to the dietician in
about an hour; I will find out everything I am doing wrong! Good luck!

During the pureed stage, I could eat a total of 4 ounces of food over about
20 minutes. Tuna salad - kind of depends on what you can tolerate. Some
people can't tolerate the higher fat content of regular mayo. Try pureed
chicken or turkey, thinned a little with cream soup or broth, mashed
potatoes, pureed vegetables and fruits. Remember that pureed doesn't mean
it has to be bland. Use some spices and herbs. (I love Tobasco in V-8
juice. I just could not get pureed vegetables down!) Good luck!

By the pureed stage, I could eat about 1/4 cup of anything I was eating
basically. Tuna salad, chicken salad, cottage cheese, scrambled egg, egg
salad, yogurt, sf pudding, etc. I still eat just about the same amount of
food at 2 1/2 months post-op and still eating some of the same foods too.
I just have a bigger selection now. Good luck to you!!<br>

It is completely normal to eat alot more of pureed/liquidy foods than to
eat denser foods. I could eat a whole thing of yogurt early on. But now at
10 months out, I can still only eat never more than 4oz of dense food at a
time, like chicken or beef. As for the tuna and mayo- I always try to cut
calories when possible, so LF mayo would be better. And I know it's tough
to not drink with your meals, you will get used to it though. We are NEVER
actually supposed to drink with meals, that is one rule that should stay
with us. It washes the food out quicker, so we don't get the full amount of
nutrients. Also it can make you feel sick. I was the type pre-op to take a
bite, then take a sip. Now I never do and it feels pretty normal. If your
throat gets dry or you really need the water, 1-2oz is ok, but you
shouldn't go over that. Goodluck to you!
