Question:
Seeking Information About Dr Patty in San Francisco
I am seeing Dr Patty in San Francsico for Surgery Consult on 4/8/03. I have seen his Partner Dr. Ostroff who was not very kind to me. I am kind of scared to see Dr Patty. Has any one seen him and what is he like? — dddtaj (posted on March 14, 2003)

Hi! I have not actually seen Dr. Patti for an appointment, but have seen
him at support group (BTW, the next one is 3/26 at 6:30 PM - I don't
remember the address, but if you look on the UCSF bariatric program
website, they list the place with very obsolete dates - but it's the same
place). Anyway, Dr. Patti is very pleasant. Read some of the posts in his
patient profile. Most people say he is caring and understanding. He's
very busy, so often you have to wait - that's the only bad thing I've read.
I go to see Ostroff on May 13th. I am NOT looking forward to it. BUT
I'm prepared, since I've heard all about him ;-) Patti apparently is not
at all like him. Good luck at your appointment!

Hi again! I just read your profile - poor thing. How frustrating. I
can't believe that it took Ostroff that long to do your paperwork. I'm SO
frustrated with UCSF. By the time I actually see Ostroff it will be OVER 6
MONTHS since my referral was approved. They are so unacceptably SLOW.
I've been upset because the hospital that is in my medical group has a WLS
program, but the medical group does not refer there. It is very
frustrating. Actually going to the UCSF support groups has helped because
it has been good to meet the people. It's great you are on the step of
actually seeing Patti and wish you all the best! Keep us all posted on
your progress!

Dr.Ostroff is an unfortunate "blip" in UCSF's WLS program.I
thought he was just plain mean and even a little scary. But don't
worry,Dr.Patti is a very kind man and more inportantly an excellent
surgeon. After Dr.Ostroff,it's all smooth sailing from there. Lap
