Question:
BARBECUED PORK RINDS
I just found barbecued pork rinds by UTZ and they are wonderful!! They have ZERO carbs and 8 grams of protein per HALF OUNCE. I think this is a wonderful snack if your staying away from carbs because it feels like your having carbs when you eat them. There are 5 grams of fat but as long as you eat your fat without carbs it's ok. I was wondering if anyone else agrees. — Kelly* P. (posted on March 10, 2003)

I like pork rinds too, and since I have lost 110 pounds this year, I don't
believe that they hurt my weight loss at all. They give me the satisfaction
of having something to crunch on without having all those nasty carbs! Now
if I can just get these last 25 pounds off! lol

pork rinds are fried fat. i do not think fried fat is a good choice for me
after wls, it is fried fat that got me to be his huge in the first place.
carbs or not, i will pass on them, if they work for you then that is great,
but there are other healthier choices out there. did oyu ask your doctor or
nutrionalist about them?

I LIKE THEM TOO. A PROTEIN SNACK, I QUESTION THE SODIUM CONTENT THOUGH,
250MG PER 1/2 OZ. IS THAT CONSIDERED HIGH? DOES ANYONE KNOW?

Since they start out as a very high fat food, the fat cooks out of them.
Just the opposite for potatoes. They start out as no fat, but once cooked
in fat (chips, frech fries)all the fat is absorbed into the potatoes.

I LOVE BBQ ones, but the plain are nasty. I made the mistake of grabbing a
bag of extra spicy ones last week. Normally I would devour the spicy ones,
but since I can not drink for a while after I eat them, man was my mouth on
fire!!! I do love 'em though!....Karen (lap rny- almost 6 mons. post-op-
down 118 pounds!)
