Question:
Has any achieved goal without exercising?
I worked out for a little while in the beginning. Then noticed when I didn't work out I would still lose 20-25 punds a month. Has anyone not worked out and gotten to goal? Or has anyone not worked out and gotten to a size 6 or 8?? — Sunny4x4chick (posted on February 28, 2003)

I hate to answer this question, I will probally get hit with a lot of bad
retorts. But yes, I like you did exercise in the beginning, now I just
don't have the time. I am at goal or under actually. I went for 140-150 I
weigh between 128-130. I feel good and I am happy.

Because of bad weather I havent been getting my exercise and gained 10
pounds:(:( You have been warned. Besides do exercise it helps you loose
FAST so you can get to goal. I know someone who didnt, and they will NEVER
get to goal.

I hate to admit it , but no I don't exercise. But I do walk a lot. I just
don't go out of my way to do it.I am a size 6-8. But don't use me as an
example. Do what you feel is necessary. I wish I did exercise it would help
my bad back. Maybe I'll join a gym. I've been threatening myself with that
lately.

There are more benefits to exercising than just losing weight. It helps you
sleep better, alleviates depression, makes your skin look great, improves
your mood, and weight-bearing exercise helps you build bone density. This
is especially important for us since we generally don't get enough calcium.
I urge you to find an exercise you like and stick with it. You don't have
to go to a gym or do aerobics, walking, biking, rollerblading, etc will
work too. But you gotta do something!

I haven't exercised once. I am over 2 years post op. I went from a
lightweight 263 to my goal of 139 in about 8 months and to my current
weight,123, at one year. I have maintained this weight with ease for over a
year and am a size 4. I am still not exercising and can eat a fairly
normal diet. I avoid sugar because too much makes me feel "icky".
I am not proud of not exercising and know for other reasons I need to, but
I simply don't. I have no excuse- EVERYONE is busy. I have decided
however, to not beat myself up over it and feel guilty. This is where I am
at this stage of my life. So, yes some can lose AND maintain without
exercising. I am very thankful that I am one of them. Shelley

The 1st 6 months post I did not exercise. I have some health issues that
make it hard just to get out of bed sometimes. I lost alot of weight during
that time. But I also go to the gym now and honestly just feel overall
better than when I didn't exercise. You can lose all of your weight w/o
exercising, it is whether you can maintain your weight w/o exercising that
could become a problem. Just like the previous poster said, there are many
benefits to exercising besides weight loss. It can help our skin
elasiticize a little better and tone our bodies. I may be young and have
good genes or what not, but I feel that exercising has helped with the
flab. I have toned arms and legs. The only surgery i will need is a
booblift- and I cannot really control that! LOL I'm a size 8 now, and will
get to a 6 for my goal (10lbs. away). Goodluck to you

I didn't work out for a long long time and still managed
to lose weight fairly quickly. I got to a weight of 130 or so
(size 6-7) and I "decided" to take up running. I started
slow, and worked up to running about 5miles a day. I now
weigh 105 and am a size 0. I feel a TON better though, compared
to when I didn't work out. So it's not exactly necesary, but
it has a lot of benefits.
