Question:
Why don't I get that full feeling?
I'm almost 3 weeks post op now and I have a hard time knowing when I'm full. I eat mostly protein, tuna, chicken, eggs, cheese, and shrimp so far. I eat about 2oz. (1/4 cup) at each meal but I never get that full feeling. Some people say they can feel it up in there chest or throat, I've never had that. I worry my pouch was left to big. I've only lost 7 lbs. in three weeks. — Kelly* P. (posted on February 8, 2003)

I am only 32 days postop and am just beginning to recognize fullness. In
fact, I think that as things heal the feelings become more recognizable.

I never felt full either... until about 3 months out. I remember hearing
somewhere that the nerves have been cut and reattached, so it will take
time for them to heal and "tell you" that you're full. You are
fine! Don't worry... the weight will come off.

I am almost two years out and I will tell you until this very day, I do not
get a full feeling. I am either over or under. If I am over, the food
comes up. If I am under, I am just fine. However, I never get the
satisfied or full feeling. My sister had the same surgery performed, and
she does not experience the full feeling either. I am unsure if it is the
way we healed or if it is a family issue. If it continues, you will have
to just start eye-balling your food. Started 362 now at 182. Hopefully,
twenty or so more pounds to come off when butt and legs are done in a few
months!

I'mnot feeling full either. I am 4 weeks post-op tomorrow. I'm eating
pureed low-fat luncheon meats like, turkey breast, roast beef, ham. I can
drink more than a cup at one time and not feel anything. The only reason I
don't go past that is fear of hurting something inside, ex: blowing out my
staples I'm craving EVERYTHING. I can smell chocolate a mile away. I
asked my doctor if he really did the surgery or did they just open me up
and say they changed my stomach. He laughed and said my stomach's only and
eigth of a cup in size and will never stretch past 2 cups at a time again.
My email's [email protected].
