Question:
I am 3 weeks post op why have I stopped losing weight?
I have not lost any weight in over a week and a half. I have lost only 30 lbs. and started at 350. I drink plenty of water and walk. I do eat all I can towards enough calories. Can anyone help me understand. I feel like this is not even going to work for me. — christy B. (posted on February 7, 2003)

You've lost 30 pounds in 3 weeks and you think this isn't working??? Do
you know how many people would LOVE to have those stats? I'm not trying to
come down on you, but that's an excellent weight loss. Even if you don't
lose another pound for a while, that's a great weight loss. If you read
this message board a lot, you will see that everyone complains about the
same thing. The weight loss stops for a minute to let your body catch up.
It will start up again. Be patient!!

I know exactly how you feel, although I feel worse than you.
It will be 3 weeks for me on Monday and I've only lost 7 lbs. I too feel
like this is not going to work for me. I think you losing 30 lbs. is
FANTASTIC, you should be so happy. Keep doing what you are doing and before
you know it you'll be at goal, Good Luck. Kelly* in PA

I too stop losing last week at three weeks out. I have lost 30lbs but
would love for the scale to keep moving. I have read many of the old
postings and realize this is normal, but somehow it doesn't make it any
less frustrating. We need to relax and let our bodies adjust. Soon we
will be posting our big losses!

You're normal darlin'. The weight will drop, stop for a bit, drop some
more. It's just a pattern. You ARE burning fat, dropping inches. I promise
you'll keep losing.

Hi! I also had a plateau at about 3 weeks out. I've had them every since
too. You will drop several lbs at a time really soon! I seem to go for a
week or two not losing anything and then lost 3-4 lbs in two days. It's
just our bodies adjusting to the difference in calories and food amounts.
Continue with what you are doing and it will happen!

The vast majority of those who have WLS have their first mini-plateau at
about 3 weeks out, so you are actually right on schedule! They last a week
or two, usually not longer than that, and then you will resume the losing.
Don't fret! Its just the bodies way of saying, "whoa, there!"
