Question:
Can We Take Muscle Relaxants?
I was in a car accident Friday, caused by a drunk driver. I am very stiff and sore, and seeing my doctor today for follow-up care. I am taking Percocet now for pain. Are there any type of muscle relaxers I can take? I know we can't take asprins or motrin. I need to find a good non-narcotic pain reliever so I can return to work. I currently take Flexeril daily for fibromyalgia pain and have had no
problem. It's been prescribed by my rheumatologist who is very informed
about what meds post-op rny's can take. While Percocet is some pretty
strong stuff, I also take Darvocet, which he prescribed as well. No
problems!

I have taken skelaxin (400mg) for months with no problems due to some
problems in my back and legs.

I take Flexeril whenever my chronic lower back pain acts up, and my surgeon
prescribes Ultram, a fairly strong non-narcotic analgesic, for things like
migraine pain, severe menstrual cramps, etc. I can take Ultram and work
without any problems. Good luck!

I second the Flexeril and Ultram combo - they work great. The Flexeril at
first made me a littel woozy, the Ultram, jittery, but it subsided. Bummer
about your accident - be sure to go to physical therapy!

Hi Stephanie... I have problems alot with my lower back. My doctor
prescribed SOMA for me & it is great. Kinda makes you feel woozy, so
be careful when you take it. Open RNY, 11/2001. At my lightest weight
ever of 119! Life is great!
