Question:
Need some advice for those of you who have had a breast reduction.
My surgery is thursday of this week. I have a doc appt. in the morning and I want to make sure I have everything in order. I would like to know if there is something you wished you ask. I'm having what he calls the anchor insition. I just want to make sure i ask all the right questions. — sarah C. (posted on January 27, 2003)

Only advice I have is for after surgery- get pain prescription in advance,
AND fill in advance. Like WLS, it is probably best you try and move around
to get all the meds out of your system. I was a bump on a log, and had
major depression after surgery (anesthesia). Also it wasn't fun being
dependant on others- stock your fridge (microwavable meals, drinks)...

I had an allergic reaction to what they sewed me up with. I wished I had
known prior to surgery that this can happen.
Good luck.

I have my reduction and lift on Dec. 6, 2002 and also had the anchor
incision. The pain was actually very minimal and I had no problems with
recovery. Just follow your doctor's orders about not lifting heavy
objects, putting lotion on your breasts, etc. The only thing I was not
prepared for was the removal of the drainage tubes. I wish I had known
that I would get dizzy and lightheaded when he pulled them out, then I
would have requested to lie down. Otherwise, I am extremely happy with the
results. Good luck!

Otherwise, I am extremely happy with the results. Good luck!

I had a mastopexy (reduction and lift) with anchor incision last May. I
wanted to make sure that I would still have sensation in my nipples and
that if I ever wanted to, I could breast feed. She said yes to both. I
asked about drain placement and any special instructions. She answered all
my questions. I had my panniculectomy at the same time. It all went
without a hitch during surgery, although I developed some seromas (fluid
filled sacs) in my abdomen. But that is all healed up and past now. Good
Luck!
