Question:
Major Advice/Help Needed:

Question one... I am wating for a surgery date. I have been through the ringer. It took a month just to get the psych evaluation straight... Should I call the physicians office and keep on them like I have had to do everyone else including the insurance company?? Or should I continue to act patient. I am paying $450.01 a month for COBRA insurance it is killing me! Question two.. I would rather have stinky s..t forever than be MO. I have heard that WLS causes unprecidented odor during gas or bms. However, CAN GAS BE CONTROLLED??????????? OR DOES IT JUST COME OUT??? THANKS TO YOU ALL!!!!    — Marcy G. (posted on January 21, 2003)

dear marcy, i have had very bad luck with my surgeons office keeping up on things and i wouldn't wait for them to call you sometimes the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. and there not very up on things. wait a few days then check in with them. as for gas and bm's i was told the samething about oder, tell me who's doesn't stink ? but on the serious side i had open distal rny and was told i would stink and have diarea all the time and it's not true. occasionaly i'm stinky and sometime it's diarea but on average my bm's are average and not kill everyone in the house smelly. thay did change color though. why? i don't know.take care hope this helped.11/12/02 -44lbs

Early postop it smelled more than normal but then became normal while having a BM. I have had no gas problems.

Even after surgery, you have to do whatever you can to keep up the cobra. There are possiblities of complications for a long time.

Please, keep your COBRA at whatever cost. My family was on COBRA when I had my surgery and they covered everything. I didn't have any complications, thank goodness, but I know people who did and it would be disastrous to have to cover those costs. I know how hard it is to keep up with the COBRA payments, we paid over $900 a month, but a short hospital stay can cost in the thousands of dollars if you have a complication. I pray that your approval comes through really soon. As to bm's and gas, after seven months, I have normal bm's and when I have gas, it's not any worse than my husbands! Good luck to you!
