Question:
I have been changed from Celexa to Zoloft in November.
Since that time, I haven't lost any additional weight. I seem to have more of an appetite and am experiencing fluid retention. I had read that Zoloft could cause weight gain. I am just trying to determine if that's what's happening with me. I didn't take it this morning. Nothing is worth jeopardizing my weight loss. Has anyone else had this type of problem from taking zoloft post op? — Gina E. (posted on January 20, 2003)

hi gina - in answer to your question , i just starting taking zoloft . i am
not sure as to the side effects yet . i took paxil and effexor before that
for 2 1/2 yrs. my pcp and other medical workers have said paxil ( probably
all )will cause you to gain weight . i had a stroke almost 3 yrs ago and
starting taking alot of meds besides for depression , since that time i
have gained close to 50 lbs. , so go figure . i never paid much attention
to this until now , i just learned this info afew months ago . so the
surgery could help get off all the meds and stop this extra help to gain
that is not needed . and as for stopping your neds. , don't , i have
acouple times when i didn't have money to get them and i suffered , your
body is used to it and you need to get off slowly, not cold turkey . talk to
your doctor before doing anything else .......
