Question:
Does anyone have a sunken in area under your drain site?
Hello everyone I had my lap rny on 01/08/03 and the main incision the one under my drain site, is giving me nothing but problems. While I was in the hospital the nurses freaked out the first time they changed the dressing, due to the fact that at that incision it has caused a huge sunk in spot. They even called my doc in, he said something about cutting through the muscle, and a j-clamp or something, cant really remember since I was out of it. I had soreness of course after surgery, but nothing like I have had in the last 2 days! I seem to have gone backwards and don't know why. It hurts more than I could ever explain,I can't walk across the floor without help from someone holding or putting pressure on my stomach. Getting up and down is excrutiating,so even going to the bathroom is a challenge, has anyone had anything like this? Or do you know what I can do? I hadn't taken any pain meds for several days, until saturday, now here I am drinking it again, and it doesn't even come close to controlling the pain. Judi — Judi S. (posted on January 20, 2003)

contact your doc about this. He needs to examine you.

One of my incision sites from my Lap RnY also sunk in. It looked so wierd
at the time, but it's fine now at 10 weeks post-op. But I had no pain
associated with it, so I think you are experiencing something different.
I'd call the surgeon ASAP. Keep me informed, Jen, RnY 11/12/02

I had a sunken in place under my drain site. At first I thought that it
was something that the Dr. had done wrong and had cut out a big piece of
fat. You could literally see it through my clothes if they fit right
against my body. It's gone now.
