Question:
I'VE BEEN APPROVED, BUT I AM HAVING MIXED EMOTIONS
I'M SCARED THAT MY BODY WILL NOT COOPERATE WITH ME AFTER THE SURGERY. I'M ALSO AFRAID THAT PEOPLE WILL LOOK AT ME DIFFERENTLY. FRIENDS AND FAMILY SAY THAT MY ATTITUDE SUCKS. I GUESS IT WOULD YOU TRY WALKING AROUND ON SORE KNEES AND ANKLES ALL DAY LONG AND TELL ME HOW IT FEELS TO YOU. — catian12 (posted on January 8, 2003)

Don't worry too much!!! this is a time for happiness and not worry. You
should concentrate on how GREAT things will be after and not worry too much
about the bad things.

Write down all the reasons you want to lose weight and carry it around with
you. It will help you in those moments when you get the pre-surgery
jitters. Also research research research.. the more you know the better
you'll feel about your decision whatever it may be.

Figure everything happens for a reason and there was a reason you were
approved. Think about all the others who have not been approved and how
fortunate you are to have the chance to better your life. I'm sure you'll
do fine.

Cathy I know exactly how you feel. After I went for my consult and was
waiting for insurance approval I have had several health problems. Even
though all of the problems I developed weight contributed to them I still
was not sure if I really wanted to go through with WLS. After I got my
approval and then a surgery date of Feb 11, 2003 I knew this was something
I had to do. I knew in the long run that even though I am relativly
healthy now that it was only a matter of time before I developed high blood
pressure and or diabetes, both run in my family. I know that if I want to
succeed at this, I need to do this for me and no one else. Good luck and
do what is right for you.
