Question:
Has anyone reach goal in only 9 months?

I am 9 months out today open RNY. I have already reached my goal weight. Is this normal to reach it so fast? I went from 265lbs to 128lbs now.I am only 5'2" too. Also is it possible that since loosing it so fast that I might loose to much weight? Then be considered under weight. Anyone else loose all their weight this fast?    — Debbie S. Debbie, first of all congrats on the weight loss, sorry I don't have the answer you were looking for, but you're doing awesome.. I'm 7 months post op and still have about 40 pounds to goal, I know It'll be more then 9 months out for me..... I've heard of allot of people that have hit goal weight at 9 months... Some have evened out and some are still loosing... wouldn't it be a laugh to finally after all these years of being "Over weight" to be considered under weight.. Again congrats on your weight loss Good luck on your journey.

I also reached goal by 9 months with a loss of 132 pounds. I was very excited. However I am now watching everything I eat as I go up and down 2-3 lbs. You did not indicate whether you have stabilized or are continuing to lose. May you be blessed in your endeavor and be happy with the new you. I cannot believe the changes for me in my life, my attitude and self confidence.

I went from 313 july 23rd to 192 by the following january. I bottomed at 179 after LOTS of exercise, bouced back to 185 and sadly have gained a few pounds since then stress eating. Really concerned about that.... Our bodies know when to quit loosing, dont be concerned. Dr schauer said I was the fastest he had ever seen anyone get to goal.

I reached goal in less than six months. I am 7 months post op now I went from 268 to 149 and a size 24 to a 4. I am still losing every week. Right now a lot of people are telling me that I am getting too thin. So I am starting to wonder too when it will stop. I am taller just about 5'9" so a size 4 is really small for me.

I am still loosing about 10 to 12lbs a month....I am very happy and excited about how I look and feel. I have never been this small(at least as far as I can remember). It's just I am afraid that I am going to go from being way over weight to being under weight. My surgeon has told me that your body doesn't taper off from loosing until 15 months or so...Which that scares me. Will my body stop loosing before that point. At the rate I am loosing I will be less then 100lbs before my 15 months is up. I have started eatting more. So, that I don't loose much more. But it seems the more I eat the more I loose (why couldn't that happen before this surgery LOL)

Debbie you are Soooooooo lucky! I'm 5'2 1/2 and want to weigh 129 (was 123 in high school) but I can't seem to get lower than 160 and bouce up to 168 and back down to the lower 160's. I'm depressed about it, yet delighted not to weigh 319 anymore. Yes, you might get underweight. However I hear we often gain 15-20 pounds after we stop losing. (Don't know if it is true or not). So IF you do get underweight (which I would like to) then should you gain a few pounds later you should be just about right.

Hi.....I started at 259 and I'm 5'6". I had my Lap RNY on Jan 15, 2002. I reached goal in about 8 months and have continued to lose, even though it is only a couple pounds here and there. My doctor had a goal of 140 for me and I am now almost a year post and at 125. I too have been having people commenting that I need to stop losing. I am hoping that I will stop .....but I do have my year check up with my surgeon in a couple days and will be asking alot of questions. If he tells me anything that I think will help you I will let you know. Good luck.

I am 8 months out and am 4 pounds from goal. I've lost a total of 142 pounds during that time and I was worried as well. My doctor is pleased with the results (as am I) and says that as long as my blood work is good and I feel fine there's nothing to worry about. - Mike

I'm not sure there's "too thin" in my vocabulary. I'd be fine looking like Ally Mc-Needs-A-Sandwich. I'm almost a year out, and have lost almost what I weigh (lost 130, weigh 131 today). I surpassed my doctors goal long ago.. I am not satisfied with what I weigh though, and hope to lose more. I don't think you'll be considered underweight. I think in the end everything will even out.

I hit my doc's goal in less than 6 months...and I hit my goal about two months after that. I am now down below that...I weigh in at about 120 (not today though...the holidays beat me up-back to protein and walking for me) Anyway, people tell me that I am too skinny now, but I have not really lost any more weight in a while...a couple of pounds here and there...and then I gain 'em back...I seem to have leveled off...I am a bit more than a year out now My doc is very pleased with my results and so am I. lap rny 11/16/01...-120 size 22/24 to size 2 Have a Sparkling Day!! ~CAE~

I'm also 128 pounds and 5'2. I lost it in approximately 10 months. I've maintained for the past 4 months. I don't think I'm underweight or too thin. I think I look just right and I'm sure you do too!!
