I found Gas X worked wonders those first days/weeks home from the hospital.
I still use it when I have painful gas. It is chewable and dos not taste
that bad. My doctor recommended that and Bean-o but Bean-o you have to
take 3 pills, I prefer Gas-X. I really don't think Tums will help with
Gas.

Have you called your surgeon?

Kathy,
What does your surgeon recommend you take? I would go with that. Also, try
to walk around the house as often as you can tolerate. That will help
loosen the gas bubbles and help you release it. The gas from the anesthesia
alone can be painful. Hang in there, it gets easier! Best wishes and
continued success.

I had to start taking Maalox even when I was in the hospital to get rid of
that trapped gas. I think that will help you tremendously. I was eating
just about the same things you are at your stage of the surgery. Try some
cream of chicken or mushroom soup or some oatmeal. Those worked well for
me.

I was low on money so I used Walmarts "EQUATE" brand of Extra
Strength GasX. What a relief! Then the sonic booms that rippled through the
house set in and more relief. Plus all five cats heads would pop up, turn
around, look and sniff and say "dad the litter box is that a way.
Don't you think you should use it?" LOL, I loved that GasX. It was a
real "gas". <smile>
