My Doctor took me off glucophage after surgery. She just wanted me to
monitor my blood sugar. I don't know but if you still need it I'm sure your
surgeon will take care of that for you. good luck Becky Easley

Hi! Yes, I take glucophage. I take 1000mg a day. I'm 15 months post op,
down 162lbs, and have been on the metformin for 14mo. It made a world of
difference for me. No problems at all, either. My Endo also has me on
Spironolactone to control hair growth. I take 25mg of that a day. Good
luck!

I took glucophage 500mg 2x a day pre-op. My last dose was the day before
my surgery. My surgeon just has me periodically check my blood sugar to
make sure it stays where it should be. He told me not to take the
glucophage unless my sugar was over 200. Good luck!

Pre op I was taken four shots of insulin and on three oral meds including
glucophage. I'm now four months post op down 60 pounds but still have to
take glucophage 1000 X2 a day. I was given insulin in the hospital but I
refuse to give myself more shots (I'm so sick of shots). I've been a
diabetic for 10 years and my PCP will not promise me that I will ever be
able to eliminate the glucophage. Sigh. I had the surgery because of my
diabetes (I've been fat all my life, I'm not sure who I am not fat). I
still consider it a success because my blood sugars are now normal where
before even with all that they were high. I feel great and have so much
more energy.

Barry, I used to take glucophage, but my surgeon took me off of it. Once I
had the WLS (Lap RNY) he monited my blood sugar while in the hospital, then
took me off it after about 3 days of readings below the norm. I'm not
considered as "diabetic" especially now that I am strict about
what I eat.
