Question:
How does Lap RNY pain compare to C-section pain?

My c-section was almost 19 years ago, but I still remember how painful it
was!!! I know you were asking about lap RNY, but I had open on 10/8/02--it
was not nearly as painful as my c-section.

I had a c-section in 1989. I was doing laundry the day I came home from the
hospital. I stopped at the grocery store on the way home becuase no one had
shopped during my 3 day hospital stay. I had RNY on Jan 18 of this year.
I planned to go back to work 10 days later. 5 weeks later I reluctantly
went back to work but it was tiring, and I have to say it helped to
actually have to get up and start doing stuff again, it was the turning
point for me but 5 weeks was a lot longer than I expected to be down.
Also, I must add, I was 32 in 1989 and 45 when I had RNY, so again, that
may be the difference, also figuring that I was 100 pounds HEAVIER at the
RNY may have a lot to do with it, I think it depends on YOU, everyone is
different, with no complications you may be doing great after a week or so!
God Bless you and Good Luck! (PS I wouldnt trade my decision for ANYTHING!
9 mos post op, down 127 pounds)

With Lap RNY, I was ready to go back to work in a week and the pain was
minimal (my lap gallbladder removal was worse). My sister-in-law says that
C-section is definitely worse. Good luck.

My two c-sections were much more painful than my lap rny. Unlike my
C-sections, I only needed pain medication the first 36 hours. It was just
a little uncomfortable after that. I hope yours goes well too!

I had an open and I must say that my first c-section was way more painful
than the RNY-open! so I would imagine a lap would be even better.

The C-sections hurt MUCH worse than the Lap RNY. It was only a bruising
kind of feeling. Good luck to you!
