Question:
What is the time line of when you can get a TT and getting your breast done.
I'm almost 7 months out and have lost 114 pound. I'm at 189 pound started at 303. I have a hugh stomach that hangs and very droopy breasts. My back is realy starting to hurt most of the time. I''m almost at goal weight. I would be a size or two smaller if i did not have this hugh stomach. I have to tuck it in my pants to zip up. But the butt and legs are very baggy (pants). I just want to know what is the time line to start the process of plastic surgery. Do yo have to wait a year that won't be until April! — sarah C. (posted on November 1, 2002)

It is best to wait until you have lost all of your weight, if you can stand
it that long. Tummy tuck is a difficult surgery...it's not something you
will want to do twice! I was amazed by what a beautiful job my plastic
surgeon did on my TT. Not only is the tummy flat as a board, but he also
sculpted my hips to an amazingly gorgeous shape. No more love handles, and
not one extra cm of lose or droopy skin. It's really amazing. I think
that if you do it all too early, you are sort of cheating yourself, as your
results can't be as good as they will be if you wait until youv'e lost
everything and your weight has stablilized.

I agree with Anne that it is best to wait until near goal. But if you are I
would go ahead and start the process because it can take forever. I was
about 175 with a goal of 145 when I started. I ended up being 165 before I
was able to have surgery. I lost 10 pounds that day. I have since lost a
few more pounds but can't really see any difference.

I meant to add, I had surgery Oct. 17, 2001. I had the tt and thigh lift on
July 1, 2002.

You need to talk to your surgeon and see what he says. I just had a PS
consult earlier this week (I"m a year out but still 20lbs from goalat
175lbs, 5'6"). The PS Dr. said that I don't need to lose anymore
weight and that I will be at or near goal after the TT, Breastlift and
Batwing removal. He lifted all the skin up and said, "you are small
underneath all of this but you just can't see it. After surgery, you
will". He also likes you to lose a couple of pounds after because the
results are much better. I say, go ahead and talk to one. And congrats on
your amazing loss!

Most of the surgeons suggest waiting until after you lose all your weight
and we continue to lose until about 18 months out. You wouldn't want to
have the tuck, then lose another 10 or 20 and take the chance of more sag,
would you? It also gives you a chance to stablilize your weight too for a
while as some gain back 10 percent or so after the weight loss, which is
not uncommon and again, you wouldn't want to stretch the new tummy that was
just tucked or have the extra pounds go to a non-tucked place...That said,
there are plenty that go for it anyways way before the 18 mo mark.

You need to be within 20 pounds of your goal weight to have plastic
surgery. I waited until I was 9 months out to have my surgery.
