Question:
Are we more succeptable to stomach ulcers now?
I have read where alot of people develop ulcers. is this due to surgery? I am having some slight burning pain in my stomach and was told by a co-worker and fellow post-op that it could be an ulcer.. any suggestions/help?? — Sunny4x4chick (posted on October 29, 2002)

We're more susceptible to a SPECIFIC type of ulcer now, yes. Marginal
ulcers are not uncommon among us. You didn't list the symptoms.... Have
you already called your doc?

I was under the impression that living with ulcers is a thing of the past.
It has been found that ulcers are really stomach bacteria which is
Helicobacter pylori which can be treated with antibiotics. Talk to your
doctor and get tested for H. pylori. Hope this helps.
