Question:
Any rash on arms and/or legs after surgery?
I am 7 weeks out and going thru normal changes but recently i broke out in a rash on my right arm and right thigh. They look like small little bumps which stay red and itch more in the evening time. — jenny P. (posted on October 20, 2002)

Hmmmm? Have you been near any poison ivy, oak or sumac? Are you on any
new meds? I've taken a new medication before for 6 days before developing
an allergic reaction.

I have also developed a rash! The inside of both my arms - little tiny red
dots that don't usually itch. I see my doctor on Halloween and plan to
quiz him, but let me know if you discover anything!

My friend Heather had that after her surgery. Her doctor said it was
Folliculitis.

I have gotten a rash on my arms, knees and lower shins. I notice that it
is worse when I start to get dehydrated. My skin is much more dry and
easily irritated. Lots of water and some gentle lotion has helped.

LMAO! Folliculitis? I think doctors use that term for any unexplainable
rash. My daughter was in the hospital a year and a half ago and I pointed
out a pretty bad rash that was starting on her abdomen. I got the old
"folliculitis" diagnosis too. I believed them til the next day
when she was even worse. Then they decided perhaps I was right and felt
she was allergic to her antibiotic. Gee, what an astute diagnosis!
Imagine their surprise when they switched her antibiotic and the
"folliculitis" mysteriously disappeared! Are you on ANY
medication? I wonder if you have an allergy.

I also had a rash on my back after surgery, it was like a rectangle on my
back, itched like crazy. I talked to a nurse at the hospital and she said
it was the anethes. coming out of your body. I was finally itch free at
about 6-7 wks. Try using gold bond powder on it, it was the only relieve I
got.
