Question:
Anyone have skipped heart beats (PVC's) after surgery? I am 3 weeks post op.
My potassium is normal. Is this related to the surgery, or to the eating or lack of eating? Never had this before surgery. — Dana S. (posted on October 11, 2002)

I haven't had any PVC's since my surgery but I did beforhand. Are you
still drinking caffeine? Sometimes eliminating caffeine will take care of
the problem. Otherwise, I'd see your Dr. about it. Good luck to you!

Usually the pvc's will come when there is a change in one's hormones. This
happens quite a bit with the weight change, whether it is a gain or a loss.
The fat in a woman's body tends to absorb hormones. If they (the pvc's)
become so annoying that you are unable to tolerate them, then you will need
to have a 24 hour holter monitor. Pvc's are quite normal and not a physical
problem. If you get one on every other beat, then that is called a
bigeminy. If you get one on every third beat, then that is called a
trigeminy. If this happens for hours at a time without letting up, then you
will need to see an Electrophysiologist/Cardiologist and most likely have a
medication prescribed.

Hi, i am on Toprol for my PVC's. I had all the tests mentioned above and
saw a cardiologist. The PVC' got scarey and daily when i gained my last 50
pounds. Since my VBG on Oct,1, 2002 I rarely have any! Talk to your doctor
, there are meds that can make it more comfortable to deal with them. They
made me feel horrible until i started toprol. Sherry in Wisconsin :)
