shannon....I had my surgery at BTC in Ypsi on July 5th. In preparing for my surgery I tracked down every list on the net to see what I needed for surgery. I took lots of things with me..magazines, CD player, crossword books, handheld games, toothpaste, deoderant, tooth brush and so on. Too many things to list. I can tell you this. I DIDN'T NEED TO TAKE ANYTHING!! The only thing I needed was an outfit home (loose fitting shorts or pants). They were wonderful and provided everything and I mean EVERYTHING. When I got there for my surgery the man that took me up to the surgery floor just looked at my hubby and said you can take that huge suitcase and put it back in the car she won't need it. He was absolutely right. You won't even need to take underwear with you, since you will have a cathider(sp?) in for the first few days you can't wear any anyway! I know you will just love the nurses there. They are so nice and compassionate. I wish you all the luck in the world. God Bless! July 5th, 2002 open RNY -48#

I took all the same stuff that Donna did.......I didn't use any of it. All you need is your outfit to go home in, BTC is really good about taking care of all your needs.

you dont need much. I took a radio ( only because I love listing to music ) They give you everything. There are TV's in the room. For the ride home make sure you have a pillow to hug, you will feel every bump in the road, and nice loose clothes. congratulations on your up coming new birth day.

I wish I would have had a phone card other than that I didn't really need anything. Good Luck!

Shannon, had my surgery Sept18th last year, and the only thing I could thnk of, is to take a pillow for splinting your tummy when you cough, & for the ride home! My family took a pillowcase and wrote all kinds of cheer-up notes on it with permanent marker! I never read 'em til after surgery, so it was like they were there with me. Huggin' that pillow got me through those first rough days!! Best wishes. . . BTC was WONDERFUL!

I just I wanted to tell you that BTC's in Michigan provide this VERY Nice & Perfect "coughing pillow". It is just like a square couch pillow with the BTC logo on it and Dark Green in color, So you don't even need to waste room in the car bringing a pillow! The only things I took were clothes and shoes to go home in, a hair brush and hair ties to keep my hair out of my face and the big thing that usually people arn't warned about is to have a pair of underwear and pad put on after your catheter is taken out because soon following surgery most women start menstration and there pads are not comfortable. Good Luck on your Surgery day!

Congratulations on you date AND for going with BTC. They literally gave both my husband and I our lives back over 2 years ago. Don't worry.......BTC provides everything right down to those dreaded TONGS!!! But trust me, you will appriciate them when you need them.
