Question:
I'm desperate!
I'm in Columbus, Ohio. I have 42 days until my surgery and hardly any decent clothes to wear to professional work. Looked on clothing exchange and not a lot going on there. Needing 32s. I have a ton of 22s to 26s that look nice in work environment that I would be willing to trade out as loans until either one of us can't wear the clothes. Would be easiest if I could find someone local as I'm that desperate...........E-mail me at [email protected] if you are interested in an exchange......... — Nell C. (posted on August 5, 2002)

Hi,
Though I personally can not help you, I can lend some advice. Check out
ebay. I went there and did a search for you and come up with 20 or so
items. In particular there was a three piece suit in size 32 from Romans
that was 20 bucks! I searched under clothing, then plus size, then career
and then size 32. Here is the link...

Majority of the other tops skirts ans pants were all 10 bucks.
Good luck!

Thanks for the Ebay hint but I only have 6 more weeks that I need clothes
for. The quickest ship date is 2 weeks after you win the bid.

I agree with the previous poster....ebay is great!! 2 Weeks?? I buy tons
of stuff on ebay, and some of the stuff is delivered as soon as 3 days
later. I have never had anything take up to 2 weeks for delivery. You can
just explain to the seller that you need the clothes ASAP, and maybe pay a
little more for "rush" shipping. Good luck.

If I can find someone in Ohio that is nearby that I could trade off
professional clothes with, that would be more ideal. At this point with my
surgery so near, I would prefer not to rely on E-Bay and have it not come
through for me. My husband is telling me to buy what I need but I hate to
buy something that will fit for under 60 days or so.

I have been buying a tons of clothes on eay and if you pay by credit card
your things are shipped the next day. Look for people that are big
sellers, and check there rating on the page. some of the people ebay
stores where you can look at everything they have at one time. many of
things are brand new and come with the tags still on them.

Just an fyi that all of the nice stores and the discount places like Ross
and Loehmanns, Foley's etc. have put their summer stuff on sale. Get a
black skirt/pants and a few nice blouses, mix and match and you can get by
REAL cheap. Also, resale is the place to go!

If you do end up buying a few things (sales are great right now), it won't
be wasted. You can get alot of mileage out of them at a good resale shop. I
replaced almost my entire wardrobe that way. As I lost I took in the bigger
clothes, and got smaller ones when those sold. (It'a a consignement shop.)
Then when those got too small I took them back in -- etc etc. I really have
very few clothes that I bought new. It has been a wonderful thing for me.
