Question:
I have found myself eating all the time and have regained 15# of the 115# I lost.
There are no support groups nearby and I am feeling panicked about regaining weight, which in turn makes me eat more. I could really use some help from others who have licked this. Also just had abdominoplasty 6 days ago. Thanks. Jill — Jill C. (posted on July 8, 2002)

how recent has the weight gain been? I wonder if you can track the eating
to anything in particular or if you are just grazing? Maybe if you can try
and keep on track like the earlier days of your post-op period, i know it
must be very hard for you. I am a very new post-op, so i don't have much
advise for you. but wanted to let you know that there is support for you,
and we are thinking of you. Maybe try to add some more protein to your
diet, my surgeon always said extra protein helps weight loss! goodluck to
you! :)

Jill, could the other surgery have anything to do with the weight gain?
Did you have IV's etc? As far as a support group, why not start your own?
A month or so out of surgery, I went to the Peers section of this site and
wrote down the names of everyone within approx. 35 miles. I emailed each
one and most answered. We have been getting together once a month ever
since and keep in touch by phone or email too. We just meet to eat and talk
(having a family picnic tomorrow) and share. It really does help to have
someone you know you can count on.

Maybe the weight gain isn't really from food but from swelling and IV
fluids from the recent surgery.Keep up your water intake to flush all those
extra fluids from you body. Give yourself some time to heal too. You've
just been through a major surgery. Good luck and God Bless!

Relax..............
the weight gain is fluid retention from the TT
I had a TT 4-9-02 and gained about 7lbs
I am now down 20 lbs
our bodies retain the fluid from the IV's
and edema
are you wearing a binder 24/7
if not go buy one
do you have drains in
I went to the Doc today and he told me to continue to wear the binder
because I still have alot of edema( water swelling under and in the skin..
be very careful about your drains
you don"t want to lose them early
I lost mine and had many complications because of it
my incision line is not flat..did not heal properly
it will have to be redone......YUCK
hang in there
but this is no excuse to eat either

Are your cravings for sugar or meat? Did you up your protein supps
before/after surgery? I didn't know that trick when I had mine and I
coulda eaten the house, walls, nails & all. Your body needs to draw on
SOMETHING to heal that "wound", all of it, not just the incision.
It will take it where it can get it, including organs & such. The
result is to leave you craving madly.
