Question:
If I go out of state, will my medicare cover me?
There's not a doctor in my state, that does not have at least 1 year waiting list, just for my first visit. Help... — Donna C. (posted on June 29, 2002)

Yes, Medicare will still pay... I live in Arkansas and use several doctors
in Memphis, TN and have had no problems with Medicare.

I had to go 3,000 miles away to Oregon for some non WLS surgeries. And I
had to get prior approval from Medicaid.
(Looking back now I wish I had been denied). I sure don't see why they
would'nt cover WLS in another state. Good luck.

Sorry. My reading skills (and eyes) are bad. I thought it was Medicaid, not
Medicare. ;)

Yes it will. I live in California and I went to Reno Nevada to have my
surgery done. Medicare paid for everything. I didnt have any out of pocket
exp. when it came to the medical bills. Good Luck.
