Question:
Is too much B-12 toxic?
Hi all, I just had my blood lab done and everything is right on target! Just like I was as a pre-op except for one, my B-12. The range is 180-914 and mine is 971. I have been taking the liquid B-12. Iam wondering if I should stop taking my enzine pills with my vitamins or should I take the B-12 every other day???? Thanks!!! — Laura G. (posted on June 2, 2002)

Hi...we were told to take the sublingual B12s TWICE a week. These are the
1000mcg tiny tablets that dissolve under the tongue. I just looked at the
bottle and it says that ONE tablet provides 16670% of the minimum daily
requirement of B12...yes that's 16670%, not a typo. I asked my surgeon
before that since we're supposed to take two a week, could I just take two
a once? He said no, because the two a week is already a big OVERDOSE, and
I should space them out. Hugs, Joy

Not to worry, B-12 is non-toxic. The RDA for a normal adult is 2 mcg per
day, so with that in mind, I do two 1000 mcg sublinguals per week. Other
than shots, sublinguals are supposed to be the most absorbable, but with
us, you just never know.

Unlike the fat soluble vitamins (ADE&K),B12 is water soluble. Meaning,
you will pee out what you don't use-your body doesn't store any for future
use, therefore eliminating any toxic effect.
