Question:
Anyone wear ID Bracelets, necklaces or have an ID Card?
I Have heard of gastric bypass patients having some form of ID with them explaining the surgery they had. How would this effect an emergency situation? And is it a real good idea to have one? — Sunny4x4chick (posted on May 16, 2002)

I have always worn one. Even in formal gowns, it is there. I'm taking NO
chances

This is important....YOU NEED ONE!!!! No, they will not feed you too much
in the ER (as one poster stated) but what if you are taken to the ER
unconscious (or you are alert but are more concerned with the medical
emergency and it slips your mind to tell them) and the doctors need to put
a tube down your throat??? The normal stomach could handle that....but
your pouch will be ruptured by that tube!!! think about it...the doctors
won't know until it's too late!
Please protect yourself and WEAR a medical ID tag. I suggest to wear it on
your left wrist as that is where most paramedics will go for a pulse.
Think about it this way...in an emergency, you may not have your purse or
wallet in your hand....but a medical alert ID will ALWAYS be on your body!
....and do you think they will take the time to sort through your purse in
an emergency?? (I won't even clean it out when I'm bored.) What if it is
thrown from the car in an accident? WEAR A TAG!!!!!
