Question:
My wife had surgery 5-8, having complications, please help?
for those of you following the board i thank you for your answers to the question i put out yesterday, but i have a serious concern brought on by complications, my wife had surgery 5-8, (lap rny), she had a number of adhesions the doctor had to resolve prior to getting to the surgery site, after she had the leak test yesterday she was in extreme pain in the lower admonden, which kept getting worse, the doctor ordered a cat scan to find the source of the pain and found that she had a leak in the lower bowel, and had to have emergency surgery, the surgery occured last nite was i was told it went well, this morning i spoke to my pcp and was told that he is pleased with her progress and she is stable, sorry about giving a long story, but here are my questions, what do i have to worry bout now (infection, pertinis, etc,), was this a normal risk of the surgery or a DR. error & can anyone share likewise occurances to help me feel; not so alone, thanks — Rich C. Rich, the leak at the lower bowel IS a known risk of this surgery.... I'm
glad to hear that the PCP says that she's stable; sounds as though you and
her doctors are being very attentive. The fact that she's stable now is
very encouraging.

Hi Rich, I am so sorry that she has had a complication. It must have been
frightening for both you and her. I have been following your questions, so
please keep us informed, you are now part of this wonderful family who
cares. My prayers are with you and your wife.
