Anyone know of any PCP that approve of the surgery for HMO IL. BCBS

Does anyone know of any PCP in the Springfield, ILLinois area that approves of the surgery? I have State of Illinois BCBS HMO Illinois. I need and appreciate your help, thanks.    — Tara C. (posted on April 26, 2002)

Dr. Danko is a PCP who approves WLS, however, he is at Rush-St. Lukes Presbytarian. He is listed in your health plan book. If you don't find one just call the doctors in your health plan booklet and ask them personally if they are Weight Loss Surgery friendly. I did it and I am now 7 weeks post-op and glad that I made this decision. If you cannot find a doctor in your network just change networks to Rush-St. Lukes Presbytarian for the surgeon in that area. I went to Dr. Constantine Frantzides at 1725 W. Harrison St, ste 818 and his number is 312-942-6511. He is a great surgeon and lots of doctors refer patients to him. You can call his office and ask his staff what doctors you can change to so that you can be referred to his office! His website is Bariatricexperts.com. Try calling the surgeon's office and asking them. Dr. Rohrscheib's staff is very helpful. I also have trouble finding a supportive PCP in springfield, but I found out that my insurance doesn't require the referral like i thought. Best of Luck to You!!!
