I'VE NEVER HAD A MEDICALLY SUPERVISED DIET BUT I'VE WORKED WITH A DIETICIAN IN THE PAST AND HAVE DID THE DIET THING IN IN THE PAST. I WAS SEEKING TO KNOW THE OPINION OR ADVICE FROM YOU ALL. I GRETLY APPRECIATE ALL COMMENTS. ALSO, WHAT DO YOU THINK MY CHANCES OF APPROVAL WILL BE? THANKS — Namiki E. (posted on April 10, 2002)

I haven't been aproval yet and I had not been under a medically supervised
diet for 1 year. However, when I ask my doctor to write a letter and told
him what I need (I told him I did not expect him to lie)...but he wrote a
letter and stated that I had been his patient for 12 years and always
struggled with my weight and that he had "SEEN" me through many
diets. I also work for an insurance company and I see alot of surgeries
approval with BMI's of 40 and 41. Good Luck to us both!

Get a copy of the policy from your employer and read what it has to say.
It should also be in the booklet your employer gave you. There are so many
differences in insurance companies that it's almost impossible to give you
an accurate answer unless someone has the same policy you have from the
same employer. You could also call the insurance company. If you do that,
make them send you the answer in writing.
