Question:
Okay, me again I was denied, any luck with the appeals thru Tricare Prime
I finally got my dreaded letter that I was deined. I was only 90% (needless to say my BMI was 39)but i was not 100lb overweight. Needless to say I have gained 11lbs. Which puts me at 101lb overweight. So hopefully now i will be approved. But Some of the comorbities Tricare Prime wants you to have is Diabetes (which i did blood work for hasn't came back yet). High Blood pressure which mine is mild. I do have bad knees and back and heel spurs, but tricare wants it stated arthritis. I have been waiting so long for this surgery over a year now, so I have a new comorbity DEPRESSION. I have a family history of stroke diabetes highblood pressure morbid obesity, but I think when I did not meet the critera they just added more to the approval process for me. Well anyways my Dr. had wanted me to keep a record of my blood pressure, and weight so they can resubmit my paperwork. I just wanted to know if anyone had to go thru the appeals process and won? Anxiously waiting. — Tina B. (posted on April 7, 2002)

Tina, Why don't you get copies of your tests and mail them to Dr. Goldberg
at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX? Where are
you located? The military will medivac you to San Antonio and you can have
it done there. Dr G has done several surgeries on people with BMI's of 39.
If you have it done at a military facility, you don't have to go through
all that mees with Tricare. You will be approved for the surgery based on
Dr. G's approval. BTW, he is now doing the surgery Lap on those with lower
BMI's. Email me if you [email protected] Ciao...
