did anyone have bleeding (period) right after surgery even though you had your period
5 days before surgery? — pamela S. (posted on March 26, 2002)

I didn't personally, but know many people do. Your body is reacting to the
trauma of the surgery. Expect weird periods for a while, your hormones are
going crazy. You will be fine! Good luck. :)

I am still pre-op, however I know this is known to happen after surgery
many times. I've also seen many people post the same thing on this
website. I wouldn't worry.

My nurse told me during my pre-op testing to expect my period. That any
time abdominal surgery is done, more than likely you get your period. I had
surgery on a Thursday and my period started on Sunday and lasted a good 7
days. Not much cramping but alot of bleeding (sorry, gross)

Yes, I did. I was freaking out since I had just had one a week before. It
started 2-3 days after surgery and lasted as long as a normal period.

Yes, most of my surgery buddies started after the surgery whilst still in
the hospital. I asked the doc about it while I was still in hospital. He
said it is completely normal and its because the surgery sends our hormones
all over the place. Dont worry about it.

Yes expect your period. I had my surgery 1/9/02 and had my period the whole
friggin month of January. I had complications and was in the hospital that
whole time too. What a pain!
