I would'nt waste money on those crappy drinks. I ate mostly meat and had a
very high protein level! My surgeon was very happy with it.

I'm with Daniel, skip the protien drinks and get on with real food. I was
on semi solid foods before I left the hospital and I have focused on
protien since my surgery of 11/05/01. I did eat/drink very soft foods or
fluids my first 10 days home, but after that I added what ever I could
tolerate. I do really well with thick soups and I eat a lot of yogurt. I
stick mostly with turkey and chicken, but I have fish once a week and have
tried pork and beef. I just don't eat much at any one sitting and I watch
my sodium and fat intake very closely. I generally never consume more then
750 to 800 calories a day. I have lost 90# in 4.5 months and I feel great.
Good Luck!

The dietician who taught my pre-op, required, nutrition class started out
by saying 'no calorie containing beverages'. She promised she would repeat
that at least 10 times before she was done. Protein supps are calorie
containing beverages. I think you should just try to get your protein from
food.

Go to GNC and try Challenge Liquid protein. It takes only 3 tablespoons to
get 18grams of protein. If you mix it with water and add splenda, it takes
like weak Koolaid....

I have a different perspective. I do not believe that we can get all our
protein from our food, so I encourage you to find a protein supplement that
you like. I recommend going to www.vitalady.com and look at her products.
She has a description of texture and taste, and she offers one serving
samples of any protein product for only $2.00. You can order several to try
so you don't have to spend a fortune finding one you like. If you prefer a
thick shake, Pro Score 100 is very popular. Pro Blend 55 is a popular one
that is thinner. Hope you find something you like. (BTW, I am not in any
way associated with this site. It's just great so I want to share it.)

I have a lot of trouble drinking protien drinks. I found one at GNC that is
easy to take it is called "100% whey protien" it is high protein
low carb. It is best to mix it up and let it sit in the refrigerator for at
least 2 hours gives it a malty texture. I liked chocolate best but the
vannila and strawberry are drinkable to. I could not belive the diff. in
this drink compared to others.

I agree with the poster that reccomended VitaLady. I am pre-op (not
scheduled yet) and have ordered at least ten protein powder samples from
the company. I am learning which ones I like and which ones I'll never try
again!! (Although I hear taste does change post-op)
