Question:
Can we snack on PORK RINDS????
Please don't blasted me, I am just asking for your input on this. I bought a small bag to try and I ate only a few. It desolved in my mouth and went down so easy. It has 45 fat calories, total carbs 0, protein 8 gms for 1/2 cup. It has less sodium than Beef Jerky. I tried the hot and spicy and it didn't bother my stomach or give me gas. I'm 3 months out down 57 lbs. Thanks alot!!!!!! — Laura G. (posted on March 15, 2002)

I have eaten pork rinds and don't think they are all that bad. Sure they
have a little fat but pretty good protein content and if it helps with your
crunch cravings go for it! Most crunchy stuff is either fried or carbs so
that seems like an inventive substitute to me. I have eaten them a few
times but they seem very rich to me so I have moved on to other things. =)

I think pork rinds get a bad wrap. They are associated with pork fat, so
people automatically think they're horrible for you. 45 fat calories
equals 5 grams of fat. If you keep in mind that a single serving of
mayonnaise or Miracle Whip has 50 fat grams, it puts it all in perspective.
Eaten in moderation, pork rinds are probably fine, but I wouldn't eat them
exclusive of other healthier foods.
