Question:
Okay I am 5'4 and my weight is around
215 which puts me with a BMI of 37, I would like to hear from anyone with a BMI of 37 or below. I am paying cash for the wls and have now been informed I may not meet the standards. So now what? — Dee S. (posted on March 2, 2002)

I am also 5'4" and weigh 2l5. I qualified because I have some other
health problems such as GERD, etc. If you have even one health problem
caused by being overweight, I believe most surgeons will say you qualify.
You need to have a consultation with one to find out for sure, but I'm
pretty sure that it won't be a problem. My insurance company approved my
surgery and it is scheduled for March l8, 2002.
