The fats won't make you fat again, but if they bother you, then yes avoid the large volume. I'm like you, even now, 7+ yrs. If I can't have the thing I want, then never mind. You might want to avoid the edges of the filet (you're talking McD, right?) and eat the center of it, with a little tarter to make it slide down more easily. If you wanted a shake, I'd never agree with you, but a speck of fish? Go for it. Tiny, slowly, and savor every bite.

Is it the Particular FLAVOR of a Filet O'fish, that you are craving?? Mmmmm I know what you mean, but be aware the taste may be different now. Good luck, go slow and get in all your vitamins 100 cals isn't enough.

I am only 3.5 wks post. Pre-op I would go to McDonald's every day and get a filet o fish combo. It was like an addiction. Have not been there since surgery, yesterday was driving by and couldn't help myself. Went thru drive-thru and ordered filet o fish, no combo, just the sandwich. I took about 2 bites and that was it - it didn't even taste good. I was kindof glad and disappointed. I wanted it to taste good to satisfy my craving, but then was glad it didn't as I might be prone to pick up my bad habit again. And I didn't dump on the couple of bites I had. The only thing I really dump on is milk.

Rachel, I LOVE those filet-o-fish sandwiches. But here's what I've learned to: I get them to go with no cheese or tarter sauce (the worst fat offenders), then I take it home and add a slice of fat free cheese and fat free mayo or tarter. YUM!
