Question:
Does anyone eat more/ bad stuff around their cycle time?
For the past 2 days I seem to be eating larger quantiies of food that I am normally not able to eat. Like 1/2 piece of lasangna,2 bites of garlic bread, and a coulple of bites of saled. Normally I would never be able to eat this much. Also eating a handful of M&M's, and 2 small cookies. I am 7 weeks post-op LAP, I have also gained 2 # duh!!! I am wondering if this happens to anyone else around thier period. Mine is about to start and i am attributing this horrible eating to this. — Cindee A. (posted on February 10, 2002)

Yes, Yes, YES!!! For about 4 or 5 days before my cycle starts I can eat
MUCH more than normal. I also have incredible cravings for
sugar/chocolate. I never had that before. Sugar does not bother me and I
DO eat some and I have no problems with that. I usually lose the most
weight during those 4 or 5 days of the month. Maybe the rest of the month
my body thinks it is starving, who knows. I am almost 7 months post and
according to MY scale I have lost 110 pounds. (The Dr's scale always seems
to say more, oh well.) I do not plan on stopping eating this way before my
cycle or depriving myself. What I am doing so far seems to be working. :)
I hope this helps you a little bit. Best of luck to you!! Laurie-UP-MI

I definitely eat more right before my period. I crave things that I don't
normally want, and can eat a higher volume of food. Its still not much but
more than usual. I am also hungrier more often during the day. And then I
don't lose anything that week either. Figures!!

Last Thursday night (Feb. 1st), my hubby and I sat down for a dinner of
empanadas. Jimmy brings them home occasionally from the city. He usually
brings home four and collectively we eat 3. He usually has some rice on
the side. Well on Thursday, I proceeded to eat 2 empanadas on my own!!!
And I still wasn't satisfied. I then had some rice. I was almost in
tears, when I remembered that my period was approaching, (I was due on the
4th) So, I figured that I'd have 3 more days of the horrendous eating,
(Immediately before my period, I don't even feel like I ever had WLS). I
know the drill by now. Eat like that until the period comes and then I
have no appetite. Well, luckily for me, my friend came on the 2nd and the
eating patterns went back to "normal". I don't get it but at
least I recognize it now... In the beginning, once a month I cried that I
must've busted or stretched my pouch. So, in my case, the extra eating is
normal! =)

ABSOLUTELY!! In fact, I totally was off on my day's thinking I had 2 weeks
to my period, when I started eating almost a bag of potato chips (something
I never do) and couldn't figure out what was wrong, then I realized that
YES I was due. So it wasn't in my head, this craving thing is REAL!! Us
women are sooo lucky! (not!)

I have DEFINITELY noticed this myself. Especially when it comes to
chocolate. (Vitalady has an awesome sugar-free chocolate bar, by the way,
that I managed to make my way through this past week...) I think just
realizing this can be a problem is good; I try to brace myself and keep
crap out of the house. Good luck!

Thank you for asking this question.. because I hadn't noticed it but I've
been wondering too... Last week (right before my period) I started eating
about twice what I could before (which at 9 weeks post op is only usually
an ounce or two regularly) and I felt like I was eatting myself out of
house and home (in actuality about 3 - 4 ounces a meal)and craving
something sweet, then all of the sudden I was back to my 1 - 2 ounces and
sweet things look disgusting!.. My husband threatened to call my surgeon
because he thought I was getting sick again, and I never put two and two
together until this...
