YES! YES! YES! I know that I eat way more the week before my period. I
was very concerned about it and talked to my doctor about it. He said it
is hormonal and that I was normal. It really un-nerves me because that
week before I am eating all of the time it seems. I then panic and think
that I have ruined my surgery. I have found that the week after my period
that is when I do have a big loss in inches or pounds. My theory on this
is that our body requires more nutriton at this time because of the process
it is going through. But, no your not crazy I have found that this happens
to quite a lot of people!

YES!! It's seem that all I do the week before my period is eat. I try to
at least make it good eats but I can't help but slip in the occasional
chocolate. It also seems as if my cravings are worse now than before
surgery. I am guessing it's because my stomach is smaller and I have to
"fill" it more often as compared to before surgery. So, you are
not alone....

I definately get PMM (pre-menstrual munchies) before my period, lol! I
also quit loosing weight during that time, BUT, when my period is over I
usually find a 5-7 lb. weight loss that makes up for it :) I'm four months
out and down 68 lbs.

Some of the diabetic meds can do a number on your hormones, and pre-op I
was on those meds, along with very low dose of Prozac to help with PMS.
After being 4 months post-op without the diabetic meds, I found that my PMS
was worse then ever---bad mood swings & irritablity for 2 weeks, carb
cravings all the time, sore back, tender breasts and just about everything
else PMS one can imagine. This month I talked with my wonderful doctor and
went back on the Prozac and have virtually no PMS--just some minor
bloating, and being more tired than usual. The most amazing thing is that
I stopped craving chips, chocolate, carbs and all the junk stuff we crave
then. I asked a psychiatrist friend about that and she told me that Prozac
is sometimes used not just as an anti-depressant but for PMS, (as I well
know), and to help people with eating disorders, (gee the light just went
on). So every morning I take 2 ounces of Sunny Delight, (I know sugars,
but you need a thick strong sweet taste), open my capsule of Prozac, shake
the stuff into the SunnyD, and drink it! Even my 10 year old son noticed
that within 3 days of taking the Prozac, I was not in a crabby mood, but
that I was eating much more chicken & lean meats! Talk with your
doctor about your PMS and see if he/she is willing to help you----you might
be suprized!

Boy, I can relate to your post! I'm a LAP RNY (11/2) and this last weekend
was about going crazy with the munchies! I also felt like I'd blown it,
especially when the new goal I'd reached was lost! I'm on 40mg prozac and
yes, it does work wonderfully and definitely takes the edge off my PMS.
But I know that when I have my period, there will be a weight loss...at
least it happened last month. I'm like you, trying not to panic!

I asked this very question a few months ago. It seemed like I could eat
like a PIG around that time. Doc said that was perfectly normal, and that
my hormones tend to relax my stomach, thereby allowing more food intake.
Glad to know the ol pouch isn't stretched out!! :)
