Question:
Feels like labor pains!!!!!

Everytime I drink or eat anything my stomach starts rumbling loudly and I get these pains that feel like labor pains for hours!!! I am two weeks post-op (open rny). Iam afraid to eat. I have been trying to sip water down apple juice whichs agrees with me but theres no way I can drink 64 oz of anything!!!!This constant pain is driving me crazy!!! I have a doctor app. in a couple of days . Starting to pass gas a few days ago, but still doesn't help. I have had normal BM almost everyday. Which I think is pretty bizzare because I only eat on a good day 3 bites of food. I am guess you can add me to the whiner list.    — Laura G. (posted on December 27, 2001)

Could the abdominal pain be from gas? When I dump, I get really bad gas, that is really cramp-like. You could be reacting to the apple juice as it has sugar in it although it is natural sugar. I would try to figure out if you are dumping, and if you are, on what.

Did they check out your gallbladder before surgery? Have they ruled that out?

I am 4 months out of open rny and down 78 pounds (yeah!). Two weeks ago, I started having symptoms exactly like yours. I was my appendix. Had it out a week ago. Horrible, horrible labor like pains. Never DID migrate to my lower right side. Just felt general pain all over my abdomen. Talk to your surgeon and have him do a check up! I did... thank the Lord!

Your pain sounds alot like what I went through when I needed to have my gall bladder taken out. It was a terrible pain to deal with. Ask your doctor to check you out it isn't normal to hurt like that all of the time.

I have had that happen a few times and I don't have my gallbladder! I think, for me, it was one of two things- 1. I swallowed something that I didn't chew as well as I should have, or 2. I didn't have enough water in me to "move things along" efficiently in my digestive tract. This seems to happen when I have eaten ok throughout the day, but haven't gotten my water in for 2-3 days in a row. Add to that if I have eaten alot of fiber and I am in serious pain! But, it does feel like labor pains as it progresses through my tract. I don't know if that explains it- but it is what I have guessed for when it has happened to me:)
