Question:
Weight after the surgery
I herd that it depends on your height and weight how fast you lose the weight after surgery..Is this true? If so I am 5'2" and 256lbs...How much weight could I look forward to losing in the first couple months? — Debbie S. (posted on December 21, 2001)

I had surgery last January with a starting weight of 263 and my height is
5'2". Look at my profile for my exact weight loss rate, but I lost
really fast and am currently at 124. I continue to lose, even though I am
not trying. My weight loss has drastically slowed, but it is still
creepiing down. I would be considered a lightweight with my starting weight
and BMI, but I seemed to have lost as fast as those whose BMI's were much
higher. So, while the starting weight may matter for some, for me it has
not made a difference. Shelley

Hello. My starting weight was 265 lbs. and I am not quite 5'4". I
can sort of let you know the loss.
1st month down 34 lbs.
2nd month down 50 lbs.
3rd month down 71 lbs.
4th month down 83 lbs.
5th month down 96 lbs.
6th month down 103 lbs.
7th month down 115 lbs.
8th month down 120 lbs. (will be tomorrow)
My weight has slowed, but not losing the inches. Every time I step on the
scale or every time I try on something I haven't tried before I am so
surprised. I started in a size 24 (very tight) and I can now wear a size
10 comfortably. My bust has gone from a 44 DDD to a 36 D. Almost a 34.
Don't worry about the loss, it will come. Just like putting the weight on,
it took a while to get to where I was before, it will take a while to get
all of it off. This procedure was a life saver. I have passed my
knowledge and several people I have spoken with have now had the surgery.
I makes me feel so good to hear from them and know that I made a
difference. Anyway. I hope that this helps you.

I am now one year post. I started at 257 - 5\'2\" - lost about 25
lbs. the first month and then 10-12 lbs a month through around month 8 -
slowed to 4 lbs. a month and am now losing very slowly less than 4
lbs/month. I have lost 101 lbs this year.
