Question:
I just heard from someone that United is no longer covering WLS as
of January 2002. Anybody have any information on this is it true? Being that I just started approval process I am very discouraged. Stacey — Stacey G. (posted on December 19, 2001)

I would not rely on what you hear....I would call your health insurance
carrier directly and find out whether they will no longer cover WLS. I had
United Healthcare EPO and they were the best!!! I'm 5 weeks and down 40#.

I have heard the same thing about insurance companies here in Florida. I
agree with the last poster. Call your insurance company and ask, or ask if
they could send you a 2002 benefits booklet. Good Luck with your approval!

I had UHC and they were fabulous. Check them out at www.myuhc.com and see
if there's anything online about it. Good luck!

Hi,
I have United Healthcare PPO and so far they say that it is covered, I
haven't been approved yet because I haven't actually found a doctor I want
to use. I noticed that you live in Florida and I have been hearing rumers
that they aren't not going to cover it. But so far I think they are just
rumers as I have not seen an answer where someone actually spoke to the
insurance company to find out for sure. Please call your insurance company
and ask. Whenever I call United Healthcare they are always friendly and
willing to help. It is best to hear it straight from the horses mouth!!

It totally depends on your group policy and can differ if your plan is
self-insured through your employer. Hopefully yours will be covered! Check
it out.
