Question:
Has any one ever heard of this with United Health Care ?
United Health Care I have been told this ins. is good and rarely denies you and if they do it was because of the type of policy your employer has. United Health Care doesn't have an individual plan in Oklahoma so that would mean I have have to do it as a buiness plan which is fine because my husband is self employed. Do you know of or ever heard of anyone doing this and getting aproved for WLS? Please do contact me if you know anything about this or how I can get this done. I have United Healthcare PPO, and I was approved for WLS pretty easily. My
BMI is 52, and I have only vague co-morbidities (mostly family history
stuff). Each UHC plan is different, though. Mine says they won't pay for
anything related to weight loss UNLESS there's a diagnosis of morbid
obesity.

I also have United Health Care PPO and was approved in less than a week. My
BMI is 46 and I am considered MO with co-morbidities. I am on my husband's
policy, we live in MA but our policy benefits are out of Salt Lake City in
Utah. The managed medical care portion of the policy is in Illinois. I had
no difficulty at all with UHC. Hope this helps. Valerie

I have United Health Care PPO through my husband and they were waiting on
my doc so they could approve! It is without a doubt the best insurance!
As long as it's the PPO, you should be fine. My BMI is 41.1 with hardly
any co-morbidities. God Bless you on your journey!

I have United Health Care POS. I have called them and they are waiting for
the Dr to call them. It should be approved pretty fast. I think the Dr was
waiting for all my test results before he will give me a date. From what I
understand, it is only a phone call. You just have to make sure that the
surgeon and hospital is one in-network otherwise they will only cover 80%.
Good luck to you. I am still waiting on mine. Let me know, please.

United Healthcare was amazing. My doctor's office never even got around to
submitting for pre-auth. I called the main number and got the phone number
for the care coordination center that handles my claims. I called the Care
Coordination Center, and gave them the information about requesting
pre-auth. They entered the claim, and gave it to a nurse for review. The
nurse called the surgeons office, and 4 hours and 54 minutes later, I got a
call from the nurse telling me I'm approved for surgery. It was awesome!
