Information on revisions from the adjustable gastric band (also called the
LapBand) may be hard to come by because the procedure was approved by the
FDA only this year in the United States, though it has a history in Europe,
Mexico, and elsewhere. Here are some sites you can check for information
on revisions from it: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Bandsters,
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OSSG-Revision, and
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DS_Revision. Good luck.

This page is the manufacturer of the one being used in the US. It should
answer alot, if not all of your questions:

Our doc did part of the experimentals here 10 yrs ago. You asked about the
regain? I didn't have one, but others in my suppoprt group had some of
those early ones. The ones with mechanical failure gained at a regular
rate, that is FAST. The ones who out-ate it gained more slowly, of course.
So, it's like any other surgery. If there is mechanical failure, you are
suddenly without any tool at all. You can also out eat any surgery,
including my distal RNY.
