Question:
Has anyone had to have their stoma stretched more than once?
I had lap rny revision on 9/27/01, and had to have my stoma stretched 2 weeks ago because I couldn't keep anything, even water down. My opening had to be stretched and was fine for about 1 week. Now I am afraid that it is happening again. Is it likely that I will have to have it redone? Has anyone had it done more than once? I had a revision on April 18, 2001 and had to have my stoma dilated on May
25 and again Aug 22,2001... so yes, you may have to have a stenotic stoma
stretched more than once. Make sure your doc knows that you are again
experiencing symptoms of a stenotic stoma..
Best of luck to you

Patti--I'm 5 months out and have had to have mine done twice, about a month
apart. The first time it worked. I could eat again and was feeling good.
But then about a month later I threw up about 4 or 5 times for two weeks.
It was time for another. But I really have to tell you, I think this time
I REALLY think it has worked. It's so hard to explain, but I can really
feel a difference. It's not just that I can tolerate food without throwing
up, but I don't have that uncomfortable feeling when I eat anymore. I love
the endo dilation! Hehe. As you've had one before, I'm sure you know that
it really is a piece of cake. And it has "happy" results, so
don't fear. Really, a couple dilations are so minor compared to what we
have gone through before! Best of luck.
